It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! I am getting really excited about all the Christmas bakes that we only get to do once a year. As well as all the traditional recipes I have been working on some new exclusive recipes for my website. I have put a scrummy spin on my mince pies, by adding a delicate frangipane topping – these really are so good you have to try them. I also know that lots of you are not keen on the traditional Christmas cake, so I have put together a really indulgent Christmas Chocolate Brownie Cake, I mean EVERYONE likes a brownie! Finally, I don’t know about you, but I always end up with loads of leftovers after the big day, so I have come up with a delicious Christmas Leftover Pie. This is so good that even if you are not having turkey for Christmas it’s worth roasting one so you can make it. You can serve it hot or cold, so it’s really good meal to make if you are visiting relatives. It tastes delicious served with pickles.
The last couple of weeks have been quite busy with the Good Food Show in London and then in Birmingham. I couldn’t believe how many people came to see Mary and me at the Winter Show. The Super Theatre was packed out and Bezza and I had so much fun meeting so many of you.
Over the next few weeks I am doing a few radio interviews. Listen out for me on Magic FM at 7pm on the 15th December. I have one appearance before Christmas next weekend at Donnington, so look forward to seeing all you who are coming, and then I am going to start winding down for the holidays.
I have just found out that my book Bread has been nominated for Food & Drink Book of the Year at the Specsavers National Book Awards. I am so honoured to receive this nomination and really excited by the brilliant reaction that I have had to Bread over the past year.
Lots of you have been sending me pictures of things you have cooked from my books and from the Pies & Puds show. I love seeing them all and have started a Xmas Hollywood Bakes album on my Facebook page. I am also hoping to be able to start putting some on my website too, so keep on sending them and keep on checking the site!
Thanks again for all the fantastic feedback that I have had for Pies & Puds, (both the book and the show). It was so exciting to be on BBC1 every weekday in November, and I have to say I really loved making the series and meeting all the incredible people who were part of it.
